Coonalpyn

Coonalpyn is a small rural town located in South Australia, about 160 kilometers southeast of Adelaide. The town is famous for its massive painted silos, which feature portraits of local children created by artist Guido van Helten in 2017. With a population of around 200 people, Coonalpyn serves as an important stop for travelers along the Dukes Highway. The town’s name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning “barren woman.” Local farmers mainly grow wheat and raise sheep, making agriculture the backbone of this tight-knit community
