Hiking the South Para Reserve
South Para Reserve, located in the Mount Lofty Ranges, offers excellent bush walking opportunities that encompass a diverse landscape with steep valleys, and native bushland.
One popular trail in the reserve is the South Para Gorge Hike. This moderately challenging 7.5-kilometre loop takes about 3-4 hours to complete. The trail follows the river, offering picturesque views of the gorge and surrounding bushland. Hikers can expect some steep sections and rocky terrain, so proper footwear is essential.

The reserve also features shorter walks suitable for families or those with limited time. These include nature trails that showcase the local ecosystem and provide informative signage about the area’s history and wildlife.
