Coorong National Park

The Coorong National Park is a unique wetland ecosystem located in South Australia. Stretching over 130 kilometers along the coast, it features a series of shallow lagoons separated from the Southern Ocean by sand dunes. The park is renowned for its diverse birdlife, including migratory waders that travel from as far as Siberia. It’s also home to various native animals and plants adapted to its brackish waters and coastal environment. The Coorong plays a significant role in Aboriginal culture, particularly for the Ngarrindjeri people. The park faces environmental challenges, including reduced freshwater flows and salinity issues.
