Welcome to Western Australia

Western Australia has always held a special kind of magic for me. There’s something about the endless skies, the sheer scale of the place, and the way the horizon stretches in every direction that draws me in.

I first came here in my early twenties, working for a mining company up in the Pilbara just as the region was opening up. That’s where it all began for me—the joy of setting off with no plan beyond pointing the car at the horizon and driving for days.

This vast state, covering nearly a third of the continent, is like nowhere else. It’s raw, it’s wild, and it’s breathtaking. From the deep spiritual connection Aboriginal people—like the Noongar in the south and the Martu and Kimberley groups up north—have with this land, to the ancient rock art and sacred places that dot the landscape, you feel the stories of this country in every step.

But what defines Western Australia for me are its contrasts. The pristine blues of Ningaloo Reef, the rugged Pilbara ranges, the lush forests of the south-west, the ancient drama of the Kimberley. And Perth—sunny, relaxed, and full of energy.

Travelling here isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about getting lost in space, silence, and scenery. It’s for people who don’t mind going the long way round.
