Avoca’s glow-in-the-dark silo art is a must see attraction
In the heart of Australia’s Pyrenees Ranges, a revolutionary artistic marvel has emerged, captivating visitors and art enthusiasts alike.
Avoca, a small town with a big vision, now boasts the world’s first glow-in-the-dark silo, transforming the Australian Silo Art Trail into a nocturnal wonderland.
A radiant tribute to local wildlife
Renowned artist Jimmi Buscombe has breathed life into Avoca’s silo with a stunning depiction of the Australian Barking Owl, a bird native to the local Pyrenees Ranges. This majestic creature serves as the centrepiece of an artwork that truly comes alive after sunset.
The Avoca silo art distinguishes itself with two separate glow-in-the-dark features.
- Behind the owl, a mesmerising GLOW IN THE DARK STARBURST SKY illuminates the night, creating a celestial backdrop that seems to dance with starlight. The owl’s piercing eyes also glow when activated by the silo’s installed floodlights, adding an eerie yet enchanting dimension to the artwork.
- Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this installation is the INTERACTIVE GLOW WALL. Set on the Pyrenees Ranges below the owl, this feature invites visitors to become artists themselves. Using nothing more than a torch or phone light, anyone can draw ephemeral masterpieces on the wall, creating a constantly evolving canvas of luminous art.
Interactive artistry
Visitors can easily activate the starburst sky feature by following a simple set of instructions. Two buttons on the Barking Owl Creative shed mural control the flood lights, charging the glow paint and revealing the night-time spectacle. For those eager to try their hand at light painting, the glow wall offers an opportunity to craft unique, fleeting artworks against the backdrop of the Pyrenees mountain range.
The Avoca glow-in-the-dark silo is more than just an art installation; it’s a beacon of innovation in public art, offering an immersive experience that bridges day and night. As the sun sets and the silo begins to glow, visitors are transported into a world where art, nature, and technology converge, creating unforgettable memories under the Australian night sky.
