Black Dog Brewery, a mediocre visit
Black Dog Brewery is a craft beer producer located in Glenrowan, Victoria, Australia. Founded in 2011 by James Booth, the brewery is situated on the family’s Taminick Cellars winery property, which has been producing wines since 1904.
The brewery takes its name from the family’s beloved black Labrador, who was a constant companion during the establishment of the business. Black Dog Brewery combines traditional brewing methods with modern techniques to create a range of distinctive craft beers. Their core range includes popular styles such as Pale Ale, Golden Ale, and India Pale Ale. They also produce seasonal and limited-edition brews, often experimenting with local ingredients and unique flavor combinations. The brewery is known for its commitment to quality and its connection to the local community.
Visitors can enjoy tastings at the cellar door, which offers both Black Dog beers and Taminick Cellars wines, providing a comprehensive taste of the region’s beverages. But, all that said, on my visit while in Victoria’s High Country, I found the beers and service very underwhelming. I love my craft beer, but the offering from Black Dog Brewery did not meet my preference for strong, bold flavours. And the service, well , he seemed more interested in chatting to the two Americans perched at the bar.
Would I go back? Based on my one experience, probably not.
