Offering 51 hectares of weekend adventure and bushland exploration, why would you want to stay at home?
Located in the western suburbs of the Adelaide, less than half an hour from the CBD, the park’s narrow creek flows through a steep-sided valley covered with majestic river red gums (Eucalyptus Camadulensis) with some more than 300 years old.
Originally a gathering ground for the Kaurna Aboriginal People, the area has at various times been used for farming, hunting and timber harvesting, but now, a favourite camping, walking and biking destination, it can be packed on weekends.
Park your car in the camp grounds or further up the valley where there are several good areas providing off road parking, and spend the day exploring the many trails that wind in and out of the blue gum woodland. If you have spare eyes, you may spot a koala in the tree tops, or a wild orchid in spring flower.
There are a number of trails off the road that follows Brownhill Creek through the park offering an easy walk or a more challenging hike up to Belair National park.
The choice is yours.
You can be assured though, that no matter the activity, this really is a wonderful escape from the rigors of city living.
