The town’s name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning “meeting place.” Nuriootpa boasts a rich history tied to German settlement in the 1840s. Today, it features a mix of historic buildings and modern amenities. The town is surrounded by vineyards and is home to several notable wineries, including Penfolds and Wolf Blass. With a population of around 6,000, Nuriootpa offers a blend of rural charm and urban convenience. It hosts the annual Vintage Festival, celebrating the region’s wine heritage.
