Thorn-Clarke Wines: Family owned, Barossa grown

Thorn-Clarke Wines is a renowned family-owned winery in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. With a rich history dating back to the 1870s, the Thorn and Clarke families have been cultivating vineyards and producing exceptional wines for generations.

The Thorn-Clarke portfolio showcases a diverse range of wines, including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, and Chardonnay. Their vineyards span across four distinct sites in the Barossa region: St Kitts, Truro, Milton Park, and Mount Crawford. This variety of terroirs allows them to produce wines that truly reflect the unique characteristics of each sub-region.

Some of their most notable wines include the William Randell range, named after the family patriarch, and the Ron Thorn Shiraz, which pays homage to another key figure in the family’s winemaking legacy. These premium wines have garnered international acclaim and numerous awards over the years.

There are four or five of their wines that we buy throughout the year depending on the seasons. With a leaning to the crisp, subtle flavours of Pinos Gris in summer and a full bodied Shiraz in the cooler months. Your selection may differ but a constant is the cellar door experience and the quality of the wines. We have yet to be disappointed.

The Thorn-Clarke cellar door in Angaston offers a personalised tasting experience, guided by knowledgeable staff who share the stories behind each wine. The cellar door also offers stunning views of the surrounding vineyards, providing a picturesque backdrop for wine enthusiasts.

Keep an eye on their events calendar as well, these are wonderful opportunities to try their latest wines and mix with the names behind the wines. The great food and music is a bonus.
